A Dietitian’s Story

My Personal Journey with High Blood Pressure – A Dietitian’s Story

Dear Client,

This is a slightly different email from me — a more personal one.

Not long ago, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure.

As a dietitian, this came as a complete shock.

I’ve always been the one making the “right” choices — eating well, staying active, and prioritising my health more than most of the people around me. So naturally, my first thought was: How is this even possible?

I remember sitting with the diagnosis, feeling confused and honestly a bit frustrated.
If I was doing everything “right”… why did this still happen?

I did start on medication initially — because sometimes that is necessary and the safest place to begin. But what I couldn’t accept was being told:

“You’ll likely be on this for life.”

That didn’t sit right with me.

My doctor enrolled me in a high blood pressure care program, knowing that improving my diet wasn’t the obvious first step — because I was already doing that. But for me, the deeper questions became:

Why did this happen in the first place?
And what can I do to prevent it from getting worse?

Those questions, along with my passion for health and wellness, led me on a journey of research, reflection, and experimentation.

And here’s what I discovered…

There is no single “magic fix.”

It’s not about doing one thing perfectly for a short time and expecting massive results.
It’s about multiple small, consistent changes — the kind that feel manageable, sustainable, and realistic over time.

Real health is built in the small moments.
The daily choices.
The habits you repeat.

This journey taught me that small, continuous efforts truly add up — and that this is not a quick fix, but a lifelong commitment.

Looking back, what I initially saw as a setback became a privilege.

It allowed me to step into my clients’ shoes in a way I never had before. To feel the fear, the uncertainty, and the pressure of “getting it right.” To understand what it’s like to be told something might be lifelong.

And most importantly — to discover that change is possible.

Thankfully I was able to come off medication and just manage my blood pressure on lifestyle alone with the key of maintaining the small changes that I have now implemented as well.

Not everyone will come off medication completely — and that’s okay.
But many can reduce their dependence, prevent further damage, and significantly improve their quality of life.

I’ve seen this firsthand.

One of my clients was able to stop his blood pressure medication after 10 years — not through a quick fix, but through consistent, permanent lifestyle changes.

This is what I now know for certain:

With every bite you take, you are choosing health — or harm.

If you feel ready to take control of your health, and you want guidance from someone who has truly walked this journey, then I would love to support you.

My newly launched Reset Package is designed to help you start this process — where I walk alongside you, guide you, and adjust your plan as your body responds.

Because this journey is personal.
But you don’t have to walk it alone.
